Today’s secondary featured game is the UEFA Champions League game in Azerbaijan between Neftchi Baku and Georgian outfit Zestafoni.

Neftchi have had money poured into the club for a little while now and they’re beginning to reap the benefits. They played two good games of football against Dinamo Zagreb in last season’s UEFA Champions League Qualifiers and were unfortunate to lose against the Croatian giants. However, Neftchi are back with a vengeance and arguably have an easier opponent to take on today. Neftchi have some good players in their ranks and more join each year due to the money that they can offer. They play good football and have solid backroom staff to boot, which aids them a lot in maintaining their stamina, which a lot of clubs from this region of the world struggle with. Neftchi have the flair and class to win this game and having seen their displays last season, I do fancy them to play well in this game.

I like little Zestafoni – or I used to – because of their attacking football. They used to really piss sides off and score at will and that’s never easy to play against. Times have changed, though – they play more cautiously in Europe and it hurts them because they can’t defend. They have an attacking threat but it rarely gets the opportunity to shine in Europe nowadays due to their change in style. The losses of their best striker Gelashvili and creative midfielder Grigalashvili have damaged their attack in a big way. They’ve even sold Oniani from their defence, which further weakens their side. I never doubt the spirit nor work-rate of Georgian sides but against a superior Neftchi side in Azerbaijan, I can only see one side winning here.

For me, there’s value on taking the home win at 11/10.

Verdict: Neftchi Baku to win at 11/10. Why not bet on this game now at William Hill?
