Ok guys, thanks very much for the support with the Bet365 link and banner clicking – it’s really good of you all! If you could please continue to do this whenever you remember then it’d be greatly appreciated, especially if placing bets at that time. Thank you!

Today’s secondary featured game is the Eliteserien encounter between Viking Stavanger and Sarpsborg 08.

A few weeks ago, Viking Stavanger were dead and buried with little options in their team, little creativity, and very low morale, not to mention a lot of youngsters in their ranks. However, a 3-0 drubbing of bitter rivals Brann Bergen set their season alight and now the giants have won three out of their last four games in all competitions with the only side to avoid defeat against them being Rosenborg BK in a 0-0 draw. They’ve kept three clean sheets in those four games and although their attacking options are limited, as long as Nevland is getting the correct service then they’re a threat. We all know – or should know – just how good young Berisha is and he’s not the only one either with Icelandic winger Bjarnason being a very dangerous attacking threat at all times. Viking’s problem is that their attack is largely on the slow side but if they get the ball wide and play the right game, as they have been lately, then they’re more than capable of winning this game easily.

Sarpsborg impressed after they’d been promoted, being very hard to play against. That has swiftly worn off, however, and they’re now without a win in six games. Being hard-working and well-organised isn’t everything and Sarpsborg are rapidly discovering that. They’ve shipped ten goals in their last three games, losing all of them comfortably. They’ve already lost four out of their six Eliteserien away games this season, losing by two goals or more in three of those games. They’ve got some decent players, Sarpsborg, but not enough to survive if they keep playing like this. To make matters worse, they miss leading goalscorer Hoas today so I really don’t expect much from them here.

I’m taking a slight risk by backing Viking to continue their excellent form but I don’t see Sarpsborg doing much today so I have to favour the hosts. If Viking do show up, however, then they should win this by a couple of goals, given how efficiently they’re playing at the moment. Therefore, the home win with a -1 asian handicap really appeals to me at 11/10.

Team news – Viking Stavanger miss Knarvik, Sokolowski, Danielsen, and Ingelsten whereas Sarpsborg 08 miss Hoas and Henanger.

Verdict: Viking Stavanger to win with -1 asian handicap at 11/10.

Thursday’s Picks

My tips:

As ever, below are my recommended value tips for today in no particular order:

I did have some interesting ones lined up today but things keep putting me off each one. For example, I wanted to take IBV to beat St.Patrick’s because IBV is a nightmare away games for Icelandic sides but the game is being played in Reykjavik as their stadium doesn’t meet European requirements so it’ll be tighter than expected. I was interested in Banants winning against Metalurgi but their goalscoring is inconsistent although they’re a very experienced European team. AZAL beating out-of-sorts FC Minsk is interesting but FC Minsk show up when they feel like currently and are the better team, despite Azeri football improving in the last few years. Unders in the Aalesund game is tempting – they’re not a goalscoring side and they’re way too short to win that game. Indeed, I see a lot of games with favourites too short here – not everything is as it seems, guys, so be wary.

Accumulator fodder:

Rad Belgrade, Elfsborg Boras, Varteks Varazdin, Paksi SE, Fulham, TPS Turku.

Recommended bets:

No multiples appeal to me today, sorry guys!
