My tips:
As ever, below are my recommended value tips for today in no particular order:
Zenit St.Petersburg vs Porto – both sides to score at 4/5.
Zenit aren’t good in Europe right now – look vulnerable at the back. Porto are missing a goalscorer without Falcao but Hulk & co. should have enough to at least score here, perhaps even nicking a win. 1×2 is a “don’t touch” but both sides scoring looks likely.
Valencia CF vs Chelsea – away win with draw no bet at 4/5.
Bargain. Valencia don’t have the firepower on the big stage. Good side when it comes to keeping the ball but terrible defensively and not good enough in front of goal at this level any longer. Chelsea look better under Villas-Boas all the time – very efficient manager with a very efficient team. Mestalla never easy but draw minimum for Chelsea in my view – superior team.
Shakhtar Donetsk vs APOEL Nicosia – both sides to score at 11/10.
Shakhtar missing half their defence should still win this game but APOEL are good enough to cause at least some problems here. 1×2 has no value but both sides scoring looks possible here.
BATE Borisov vs Barcelona – home win with +2.5 handicap at 3/4.
Horrifically short odds on Barcelona here. No side has ever had an easy away game in Belarus against BATE – tight pitch, physical game, good at keeping the ball. Barcelona are brilliant but this is not easy. They should win the game but I’d be surprised to see it being a heavy scoreline. Potentially some value in BATE +2.5 at 3/4.
AC Milan vs Viktoria Plzen – both sides to score at 11/10.
AC still missing loads of players through injury and with a big game at weekend. AC defence vulnerable to pace. Plzen have pace and this is the biggest game of their existence. Plzen are a goalscoring side and although they’ll probably lose, both sides to score looks to be priced too long here.
HJK Helsinki vs Jaro Pietarsaari – away win with +1.5 handicap at 11/10.
Hate to go against HJK at home but those player sales have damaged them more than I thought and they’re not scoring enough of their chances as a result. Tiring game at weekend, no motivation. Jaro on-fire in front of goal lately – still crap at the back but could make life hard for HJK today.
Haka Valkeakoski vs FC Honka Espoo – away win at 9/10.
Better side. Look good with Petrescu in their ranks as an additional attacking option. Honka should have enough to win this against shitty Haka.
KuPS Kuopio vs IFK Mariehamn – home win at 11/10.
Better side. Long game at weekend but on artificial turf against poor travellers, KuPS look too long here.
