Today’s secondary featured game is the Urvalsdeild game between Breidablik Kopavogur and KR Reykjavik.

Hosts Breidablik Kopavogur are one of two Urvalsdeild sides that buck the trend by defending well instead of attacking a lot and both scoring and conceding plenty of goals. Breidablik are not a good side but they’re a well-organised unit and no side in Iceland has an easy game against them as a result. They’re especially solid at home and I expect them to make life tough for KR Reykjavik here, just as they do for all their opponents. Breidablik lack the firepower to turn a scoreline around but they tend to hold on to a lead if they get it so the first goal will most likely be pivotal here. It’s surprising that Breidablik are so solid at the back with a largely youthful defence in their ranks. Still, Kristjansson has done a good job here and he’s packed his midfield full of grafters, which helps. Their attack is pretty ineffectual but the rest of this side is physically strong and hard to break through so I expect Breidablik to give a good account of themselves today.

Visitors KR Reykjavik are the better side but still look quite short here to me. Home advantage doesn’t contribute much for Icelandic sides en mass but Breidablik are just one of those sides that no other Urvalsdeild side enjoys playing against. KR have got some good players in their ranks although the vast majority of their goals are coming from giant ex-Celtic striker Finnbogason so there are no prizes for guessing which way KR prefer to play their football! KR usually nick a goal at some point and their defence is reasonably solid nowadays with Rhys Weston holding things together. KR need to keep their composure to win here but they’re good enough to keep their hosts out and will win the game as long as they take their own chances.

The above makes me think that we’ll see an unders game here, though. Breidablik can’t and don’t score goals whereas KR tend to damage the weaker defences much more than the solid defences for obvious reasons. KR are good enough to win this game but should find it harder than normal so my call is to take under 2.5 goals at evens.

Verdict: Under 2.5 goals at evens. Why not bet on this game now at William Hill?
