Ok guys, thanks very much for the support with the Bet365 link and banner clicking – it’s really good of you all! If you could please continue to do this whenever you remember then it’d be greatly appreciated, especially if placing bets at that time. Thank you!

Today’s secondary featured game is the heavyweight encounter in Brazil between Corinthians and Gremio.

Corinthians are the better side nowadays; no questions asked. They’ve got more financial clout and subsequently have a lot better players and more depth than their opponents. However, like all Brazilian clubs, Corinthians still have players poached from them by European clubs and that’s been the cause of their downfall lately, in my opinion. The sale of Dentinho to Shakhtar Donetsk has robbed a somewhat goal-shy Corinthians of that match-winning bit of unpredictability which nobody else in their team really has. Willian is a good player and Liedson and Emerson are good strikers but there’s just a bit of skill missing somewhere and without it, Corinthians look bereft of goals and confidence. I mean, look at the statistics – they’ve scored five goals over their last five home games. It’s just not enough! Gremio have had that problem for a long time now – only Jonas last season gave them a brief insight as to how it feels to start scoring goals again but his sale to Valencia CF left them without a goalscorer too. They’re an alright side, Gremio, although I must admit that I do expect them to lose here. That said, a win against bitter rivals Internacional in the Porto-Alegrense derby last time out is sure to have boosted their confidence so maybe a shock is on the cards – who knows? With Mario Fernandes ruled out of this game, though, you have to favour Corinthians to edge it. Corinthians themselves miss Ralf, who is on international duty with Brazil, so they have yet another stumbling block in front of them. Given that we have an under-strength and uncertain Corinthians side facing a buoyed but fairly average Gremio side, I can’t help but feel that we’ll see a low-scoring game here. South American games are never easy to go under 2.5 goals in for obvious reasons (samba!) but I think it’s worth a punt with the above in mind.

Team news – Corinthians miss Ralf whereas Gremio miss Mario Fernandes and have doubts over Gre-Nal.

Verdict: Under 2.5 goals at 5/6.
