Today’s secondary featured game is the Bulgarian A PFG game between CSKA Sofia and Beroe.
Although CSKA Sofie are unquestionably one of the heavyweights of Bulgarian football, the odds on them beating one of the most resilient sides in the country today are laughably short. Their home record this season is very impressive, of course – eight wins from ten home games whilst averaging scoring over two goals per home game. Who scored and created most of those goals, though? Zicu. Who no longer plays for CSKA? Zicu. I can’t discredit CSKA’s run of wins lately, especially not with a convincing 0-3 win at Lokomotiv Plovdiv bringing them into this game. I would argue that their run since the winter break has been “favourable” in terms of their fixtures, though, and this could be one of those games that escapes them. Junior Moraes is having a very good season and Priso has settled really well but CSKA lack that spark without Delev and Zicu and it’s in this kind of game where it could potentially hurt them.
Since returning from the winter break, Beroe have looked pretty good. They’ve always been a solid and dependable side, albeit far moreso at home than away from home. They made some good signings over the break too, bringing in Portuguese duo Elias and especially Caiado, which has given an additional dimension in the final third that they didn’t really have. Defensively, Beroe are very strong but now that they’re starting to excel in attack, it’ll be interesting to see if they can maintain their good run against mighty CSKA Sofia today. For me, they’ve got a good chance to do so as they have better cohesion than their hosts and CSKA don’t really have the same power that they used to have.
This is far from a banker but I do feel it’s well worth a punt on Beroe +1 AH at 11/10 with the above in mind.
Verdict: Beroe to win with a +1 Asian Handicap at 11/10.
