Today’s secondary featured game is between Helsingborg and GAIS Goteborg in the Allsvenskan.
Helsingborg have disappointed everyone so far. It’s only a matter of time before they start getting the results that they’re capable of but at the moment, they’re dominating games and not converting their chances. I suppose it’s all part and parcel of integrating Icelandic hitman Finnbogason into their ranks. I mean, after all, this club has lost two cracking strikers in youngsters Jonsson and Gerndt so it was always going to take some time to introduce replacements. Finnbogason is a good striker, though – he will score goals for them this season, given chance.
For today’s game, Helsingborg miss Wahlstedt and Edman in defence. It’s a bit of a blow for the hosts but they’re a very experienced side and they control possession well so it shouldn’t be a massive issue. Again, their concern must in not converting their chances. They were fortunate against Elfsborg Boras, bad against IFK Norrkoping, and ineffectual against Orebro. Helsingborg will spring into life this season but when? Today is a good opportunity for them to get three points against a GAIS side that haven’t impressed thus far.
Will they, though? GAIS are capable of springing a surprise or two. Again, it’s just a matter of when that will be because GAIS have been pretty ineffectual so far. Their only goal scored in the Allsvenskan this season was a peach from Jakob Olsson. Their usual open play isn’t producing the necessary opportunities and when they are produced, GAIS aren’t taking them. Wanderson was and still is the best played in the Allsvenskan but maybe even the Brazilian attacker is fed up of being the lone ranger for GAIS Goteborg. Celik is back for GAIS but he needs service to be effective. Ayarna is talented and GAIS are generally a capable side but…when will we see that? They’re capable of frustraing sides from time to time but they’re not scoring goals and I don’t see how they’ll penetrate a solid Helsingborg defence today without an inspirational display.
Of course, sides to motivate themselves more for the big games and Helsingborg are one of the big sides to face in Sweden. With that in mind, I would advise against betting on the 1×2 market until the Allsvenskan settles down a bit. However, with both sides misfiring and Helsingborg likely to monopolise possession, I do think it’s worth taking under 2.5 goals at 4/5.
Verdict: Under 2.5 goals at 4/5.
